Dr. Soo-Jeong Lee is a professor in the School of Nursing at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She earned her BS and MS degrees in nursing from Seoul National University, South Korea, and completed her PhD in nursing at UCSF. She received post-doctoral training in public health and applied epidemiology at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Program. She is an internationally recognized nursing researcher in the field of occupational health. Over the past 20 years, her program of research has focused on occupational health risks and the promotion of worker health and safety, particularly among healthcare workers. Her research addresses multi-system factors, including social policy, organizational factors, physical and psychosocial work environments, and individual worker perceptions and behaviors. Her recent and ongoing research projects have examined the impact of safe patient handling legislation on musculoskeletal injury prevention, the impact of COVID-19 on disinfectant exposure and associated health effects, and the effect of stress resilience training on psychological and occupational wellbeing of nurses. Dr. Lee has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers in high-impact, multidisciplinary journals. In recognition of her significant contributions to research and education, Dr. Lee was inducted as a Fellow of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (FAAOHN) in 2020 and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) in 2023.
